For the winter holiday in February yours truly went to Italy and Portugal! We all know that I can't stay put. I live for these holidays so that I can just travel around Europe (or try to, for the most part, lol). Well Kamz and Risse went too, as well as Rachel. We had a ball! We went to Rome, Florence and Milan. Wait a minute, here I am talking about Italy but I'm missing out an important detail... Let me rewind a little. Before the holiday in Italy began, Rachel and I spontaneously went to Lyon to see Katy Perry live in concert! Crazy I know! But you often hear the best decisions are the spontaneous ones. :). How did we even...? Well we were watching some video about her, showed her performing/ touring a bit throughout it, then one of us had an idea to see if she had any concerts coming up. It was going to be a long shot, but it still wouldn't hurt to look. To our surprise she was actually doing her Prismatic World Tour in Lyon on the day that our holiday started!! Talk about meant to be!! I can't tell you how excited we both were and without even thinking about it, I said let's go. Bam! We bought the tickets (which were cheap) and then we also bought our train tickets to Lyon, plus we had to look for a place to stay for the one night we were going to be there. Bam! Bam! Bam! That was done, lol. I remember trying not to get too excited before I could actually hold the ticket in my hand, but when I got that ticket (same day we bought them), I went bananas (well not really, I was just super excited lol). It was a good feeling that day. I don't have to tell you that from then on we were counting down the days to her concert. When that night finally arrived and being there seeing Katy Perry live, I was in awe. Of course I freaked out! Come on! This is a girl who cried when I saw the top of the Eiffel Tower, lol. You didn't think I'd freak out about Katy?? Lol. But honestly, I was really happy that I got to see her and it was my first concert ever, so...it was great and she performed well, so cheers to her! That was that on my pre-holiday. I really had a ball; Katy Perry and Italy too and on top of that Portugal?? Hold me back! Lol. Ok, now going back to talking about Italy. We had 11 days to travel to these places. 11 days? Challenge accepted! We spent like three days in Rome, two in Florence, one in Milan, two in Lisbon and two in Porto. To add to that, we took like four planes in that space of time... FOUR!!, plus trains too, we also took trains. Haha. Madness! According to Risse, we too like to be in transit and my friend, tu as raison (you are right). We managed to visit those 'important' places, like the Colosseum, the Vatican City, the famous Cathedrals, The Pantheon, Trevi Fountain (which was unfortunately under construction). This was in Rome. Of course we did more sightseeing around the city, but those were the main important things we did/saw. In Florence, we visited The Uffizi Gallery, the Ponte Vecchio, the Campanile de Giotto and we also saw or rather went up to where Michelangelo's statue. Well in Milan, we only spent like a day, so not much we did. However, there was Milan Fashion Week (how exciting!) :) no, I didn't see any famous people....or did I?, but I wouldn't know, I don't know any Italian fashion models...oops! For me it was more the fashion city, with all of the high end stores, but nonetheless it was still a beautiful place to see. We also went to the football stadium, but not much (or rather nothing) was going on, but it was cool to say I've been there 😊. Now on to the next stop; Portugal. We went to Lisbon and Porto. In Lisbon we went to the Cathedrale and also to the Castelo de Sao Jorge, along with the usual sightseeing around the city. To end the trip, in Porto, did some walking around the city, admired the buildings, was loving the beautiful sunshine, I can tell you that, lol and we also went to another little city called the 'Vila Nova de GAIA'. This area was the wine spot, but unfortunately we couldn't taste any port wine because the shops/ cellars were already closed. I could probably go on about the other places/ things we saw....but I don't remember lol. However, those I've mentioned were the most important and to add to that list I can't forget the gelato I've eaten, but of course! I was super excited to find a gelateria in Portugal. I love gelato! Well I love ice cream on the whole, but I love gelato, lol. In Portugal, however, was this delicious custard pie, that oh my goodness makes me sing, lol. That thing was so good and add some cinnamon on top of it...? Heavennnn, lol. I was so angry at myself coming back home (Avignon), because they were selling like 6 of them in a box at the airport, but what did I do? I Jalasheia Shakira Harewood didn't buy them, smh, lol. I regretted it after! I couldn't believe I didn't buy them. Crazy people do crazy things! Crazy me! Lol. Well at least I got to live in those moments I ate them.
